What's New in Zephyr Enterprise Release 8.5.0

October 14, 2025

Introducing Zephyr Enterprise 8.5.0. This version includes new features and improvements that will enhance your experience. Upgrade to Zephyr Enterprise 8.5.0 to take full advantage of these benefits.

Important Announcements

After upgrading to version 8.5, you must trigger a full reindex.

Improvements

The following updates bring significant improvements and fixes:

OAUTH Support for SMTP

OAuth 2.0 for SMTP is a modern authentication method that uses secure, token-based access instead of a username and password. With this approach, your application does not store or transmit login credentials. Instead, it requests an access token from a trusted identity provider, such as Google or Microsoft, and uses that token to authenticate with SMTP.

Hide the Internal Custom Field from the Jira Requirement

The internal custom field will no longer appear in the requirement imported from Jira.

Real-time Indexing Improvement

Reindexing now uses the Artemis queue, introduced in Zephyr version 8.5. It replaces the earlier Kestrel queue and offers a more modern, reliable, and scalable architecture for real-time indexing.

MySQL version 8.4.5

Starting release 8.5, Zephyr now supports MySQL version 8.4.5.

Enhanced Advanced Search with Date Field Support

You can now use date fields in the Advanced Search across the following modules: Test Case, Requirement, and Execution.

Drag and Drop Notifications

You can now select or clear the drag and drop notifications checkbox in the Requirements and Test Repository modules. When selected, a warning message appears whenever a requirement or test case is moved to a different location through drag and drop.

Environment Option

Administrators can now configure the Environment option. This new option is mandatory when creating, editing, or cloning test cycles and managing automation jobs (including Vortex, API, and Jenkins integrations).

Download License Usage Data

A new dialog box is available to download license usage information. Users can select a date range (for example, monthly) and click Download to export the data as a CSV.

Personal Access Token Support for Jira DC Integration

Starting from version 8.5, Zephyr Enterprise supports Personal Access Token (PAT) as an additional authentication method for Jira integration. This enhancement offers increased security and flexibility when connecting Zephyr Enterprise with Jira.

Plugin Improvement

Starting from version 8.5, project and release filters support is available when viewing, editing, or adding BDD features through the Jira plugin.
